At 08:00 AM, we will transfer you to the boat dock in Puerto Acosta. Here, you will board the motorized boat for a 30-minute journey along the Madre de Dios River to our exclusive Ecolodge.
Our team will assist you with the check-in process. After a brief rest, we will embark on our tour of the Tambopata National Reserve.
CANOPY WALK: We will start with a short 200-meter walk from our lodge to the Canopy Tower. It stands 35 meters tall, built at the base of a massive Lupuna Tree, symbolizing the Amazon with its immense size.
Throughout the day, you’ll observe various bird species here. Our local expert will provide detailed explanations about the flora and fauna of the area.
ZIP-LINING: Once you’ve had your fill of canopy walking, we’ll soar through the treetops on a zip-line. Our local instructor will provide safety tips and share information on how to make the most of this activity. Ready, set, glide along the 190-meter zip-line.
Afterward, we’ll return to the lodge for lunch. Our team will serve you an authentic Amazonian meal. After lunch, you’ll have time to relax in the hammocks at our lodge.
KAYAKING: In the early afternoon, we’ll embark on a kayaking adventure. We’ll take the kayaks from our lodge, and our team will assist you in gearing up with all safety equipment.
Once ready, we’ll start the experience. A safety boat will follow you to ensure all travelers manage well.
Then, you’ll have the opportunity to cool off from the Amazon heat by taking a dip in the refreshing waters of the Madre de Dios River.
MONKEY ISLAND: After enjoying kayaking, we’ll return to our boat for a 15-minute downstream journey to Monkey Island. As its name suggests, the island is home to various monkey species.
You’ll see a group of capuchin monkeys, black monkeys (Cebus apella), white monkeys (Cebus albifrons), among others. Accompanied by a local expert, you’ll be able to get close to them, feed them, and witness their interaction in the Tambopata National Reserve.
After this experience, we will return to the lodge by 04:30 PM. You will be able to witness the sunset in the Amazon here.
CAIMAN SPOTTING: After sunset, we will embark on a well-equipped boat ride with reflectors and headlamps to spot alligators. The lights from their eyes will make it easier for you to spot them at night.
You will get to spot White Alligators and Dwarf Caimans here.
By 07:30 PM, we will return to the lodge for dinner and a well-deserved rest.
You’ll wake up to the melodious tunes of birdsong. Our team will provide you with a delectable Amazonian breakfast, including freshly squeezed fruit juice, a steaming cup of authentic Peruvian coffee, eggs, fluffy pancakes, fried plantains, and more.
At 9:30 AM, we’ll board the boat and cross the river to reach the control post, where visitors’ details will be recorded by local authorities. From there, we’ll embark on a one-hour trek covering three kilometers to reach Sandoval Lake.
During the hike, you’ll have the chance to encounter various types of plants and animals, with the possibility of sighting giant river otters and other wildlife.
Upon reaching the shores of Lake Sandoval, we’ll treat you to a delightful jungle lunch. Afterward, we’ll navigate through the lake by rowboat, exploring its rich avian and mammalian inhabitants.
The area is inhabited by hoatzins, cormorants, anhingas, and if luck favors, you may even catch a glimpse of the renowned “Playful River Wolves.” Following this immersive experience, we’ll return to the lodge for lunch.
We’ll serve lunch and then transfer you back to Puerto Maldonado.
Depending on your flight or bus schedule, we’ll transport you to the airport or bus terminal.
